In today's manufacturing landscape, leadership is often measured by efficiency, profitability and innovation. But what if true leadership also meant compassion, purpose and impact beyond the plant floor?
At NCK Equipment, we’re doing more than distributing world-class process equipment—we’re engineering with purpose. That purpose is embodied in our deep, inseparable connection to Ride The Wave Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to restoring dignity and opportunity to individuals experiencing homelessness.
This is not a partnership. It’s not a side project. Ride The Wave is the soul of NCK Equipment. Every piece of equipment we deliver, every solution we engineer, is driven by a bigger vision: to lead the industry with heart, humanity and real-world results.
NCK Equipment was founded in 2007 by Raymond Maroune, a man known for his authenticity, joy and unwavering belief in people. He named the company after his three daughters—Nicole, Kristen and Kathleen. Ray built lasting relationships with manufacturing partners and customers not just by selling equipment but by genuinely caring. That spirit still fuels everything we do.
At NCK, we believe “The Path is to the Person.” That belief flows through the Ride The Wave Foundation and into every initiative we launch. The Ride The Wave Podcast has become a powerful truth-space—open to all people of every background, race, creed, gender or belief. It’s a platform for real stories, real transformation and real conversation. It also serves as a strategic tool for community connection and awareness building.
One story changed everything. A chance encounter with a man named Daryl, living out of a van on the streets, opened my eyes to the gap between service and connection. From that moment, I wrote the book Wave Maker and developed the Wave Maker Training Program, which teaches people to: Radiate positivity in dark environments; Understand that nerves are normal; Ask intentional questions that spark connection.
These principles now guide our hybrid model: a framework designed not only for those experiencing homelessness but also for business leaders seeking purpose, trust and transformation.
Today’s younger generation is facing a purpose gap. Many feel disconnected from meaning in their work or life. At NCK, we’re creating an environment where purpose is baked into the culture—from the equipment floor to community outreach.
This model gives emerging professionals a chance to do more than just design or operate systems. They can volunteer with the foundation, share in our mission and build something bigger than themselves. Whether it’s their first role or a senior leadership position, every team member receives training in servant and conscious leadership because we believe empowerment starts at every level.
We serve the food, beverage, pharmaceutical, personal care and chemical sectors with precision and integrity. But beyond equipment, we offer vision. Our clients know they’re working with a team that integrates: Customized process solutions; Pre-design engineering and consulting; Rapid-response sourcing and delivery; Transparent values-based customer service; Direct cross-marketing to impact-driven causes.
We don’t just solve problems. We empower people to become part of the solution.
Ride The Wave is more than a foundation—it’s a model for integrating people-first purpose into every transaction. Businesses that adopt this approach begin to shift how leadership is defined and how culture is built.
If this model became commonplace among small and mid-sized businesses, imagine the ripple effect: Real lives changed. Communities strengthened. Entire industries transformed from the inside out.
Much like Damon West’s powerful message in The Coffee Bean, this is about becoming an agent of change within the system.
To the leaders, engineers and entrepreneurs reading this: You can do both. You can lead in the field and lead in your community. Start with purpose. Engage your people. Design with dignity.
